Why Engagement Photos Are Always a Good Idea – Featuring Athena & Mitchell
Let’s talk about these two absolute sweethearts—Athena and Mitchell! These two teachers (yep, both of them!) met through the Nelson Bay Rugby Union Club and are now planning their big day in the beautiful Port Stephens area. With a ceremony at Dutchies Beach and a reception at the dreamy Whitesands, Shoal Bay, it’s already shaping up to be the best day ever.
We snuck in their engagement photos recently, and wow—what a session! It rained through most of it (because, of course!), but these two didn’t let it dampen their spirits for a second. They absolutely rolled with it—laughing, cuddling, and completely embracing the moment. It was the perfect little preview of how relaxed and joyful their wedding day will be.
Engagement sessions aren’t just about getting cute photos (though yes, we 100% do that too!)—they’re about getting comfy in front of the camera, building that connection with your photographer, and shaking off any photo nerves before the big day. Plus, it’s the perfect chance to discover your best angles, practise your dips and kisses, and just have a relaxed, fun time together—even in the rain.
Athena and Mitchell were an absolute dream, and if you’re on the fence about doing an engagement session, this is your sign to go for it. Rain, hail or shine—it’s always worth it.
